June 28 to August 20, 2020
WHAM’s summer camp program aims to inspire, educate and challenge our campers through fun and creative hands-on learning. Our dedicated and supportive staff integrates education of local history, the museum collection and community involvement into the daily activities of the program. Camp is organized into theme weeks incorporating a variety of topics, guests and field trips. Register for a day or the entire week!
Camp runs from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for children 5 to 11 years of age. WHAM also offers Extended Camp Care from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. for an additional $5.00 per day, per child.
Camp days follow a school-based structure with two nutrition breaks.
Hooray for Holidays
June 28 – 29 & July 2 – 3
Come celebrate with us! Join WHAM for a week-long celebration of holidays from all over the world. Each day learn about a different holiday by exploring traditions, making decorations and seasonal treats, and playing related games from all kinds of celebrations and holidays.
July 6 – 10
Do you have a green thumb? Come join us for a spectacular week of nature adventures! Help us tend to our vegetable garden, take nature walks on the trail, make nature themed crafts and play outdoor games.
WHAM Camp Has Talent
July 13 – 17
Everyone has a talent, so come show yours off! This week is full of, singing, acting, dancing, cooking, art, music, sports tricks, and so much more. Spend a week learning some new talents and display your own.
July 20 – 24
Come show your creative side, Norfolk! Get ready for a week full of art and crafts, songs and dancing, acting games, fun kitchen creations, and homemade instruments – if you can think it, you can create it!
July 27 – 31
Calling all animal enthusiasts: come join our WHAM Camp safari! A week full of animal adventures, safari themed crafts, outdoor games and scavenger hunts and more. Let’s get wild!
August 4 – 7
Directors, actors, set makers, producers and more – join us for a full week of movie madness. Learn about making movies and try your hand at acting, producing, directing, filming and more! The week is also filled with crafts and games themed around your favourite movies.
August 10 – 14
Three… Two… One… GO! Ready for an action packed week all about sports? Learn about and play sports from all over the world, create crafts to support your favourite teams, and take part in wacky sports challenges. Who knows, we may even ask you to make up your own sport!
August 17 – 20
Are you a talented chef? Come join us for a week filled with fantastic kitchen creations, baking and cooking, food themed crafts and games, and so much more! We’ll be learning about foods and meals from all over the world. You’ll be a master cook by the end of the week!
Night at the Museum
August 21 – 22
Spend the entire night at WHAM! This hugely popular event, now in its 9th year, is a perfect way to end the summer holiday. Participants spend the evening under the stars with camp fire adventures, stories, and marshmallow treats, followed by popcorn and movies on WHAM’s indoor big screen.
Night at the Museum starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 23 with pickup at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24.
Cost is $35 per child – for youth ages 5 to 11 years
Norfolk County Heritage & Culture Youth Programs & Day Camps Policies
To be registered, we require full payment and completed paper work at least one week prior to the scheduled date of the program. Spots cannot be reserved over the telephone. When registering, please ensure to bring:
- Emergency contact(s) name and phone number
- Proof of child’s age
- A list of allergies, medications, or any special accommodations
Registration Fee: $30.00/per day per child*
*extra fees may be required for trip days
Payments can be made by either cash, cheque, or debit. Cheques are to be made payable to: NORFOLK COUNTY.
If there is not enough interest in a specific camp program, the program will be cancelled and those who have registered will receive a full refund. If a cancellation request is received two (2) weeks prior to the start of a program, a full refund, less a $5 administration fee, will be issued.
