July 3 to August 25, 2018
Registration starts Tuesday, May 15th and operates on a first come, first served basis.
WHAM’s summer camp program aims to inspire, educate and challenge our campers through fun and creative hands-on learning. Our dedicated and supportive staff integrates education of local history, the museum collection and community involvement into the daily activities of the program. Camp is organized into theme weeks incorporating a variety of topics, guests and field trips. Register for a day or the entire week!
Camp runs from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for children 5 to 11 years of age. Cost is $27.00 per child (extra fees may be required for trip days).
WHAM also offers Extended Camp Care from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. for an additional $5.00 per day, per child.
Camp days follow a school-based structure with two nutrition breaks.
July 3 – 6
Unleash your creativity! WHAM Summer Camp begins by tapping into our campers’ artistic side. We will dive the world of art through sketching, sculpting, and painting, stage our own original play, create delicious kitchen concoctions, and (hopefully!) hit all the right notes with our DIY musical instruments.
July 9 – 13
Put on your sunscreen and join us for some outdoor exploration. This week, we will learn survival techniques and how to use a compass. Campers will take nature hikes, work in the garden, and spend lots of time outside. Don’t forget your bathing suit and towel for water games and our awesome homemade slip ‘n slide!
July 16 – 20
Eureka! It’s Sensational STEM week at WHAM and that means the kids will be mixing up a bit of mad science, embracing their inner inventors, engineering tall towers and magnificent marble runs, and trying their hand at a little Museum CSI.
Teams & Triumph
July 23 – 27
This week is all about teamwork. Campers will participant in crazy competitions from our Wacky Olympics to life-sized board games and classic Minute to Win It challenges. They’ll also learn some multicultural games and heat up the kitchen with WHAM’s Great Cookie Bake Off!
When I Grow Up…
July 30 – August 3
Whether you want to be an astronaut or a runway model or something in between, life is full of possibilities! This week WHAM campers will hear from special guest speakers, take a field trip to the fire station, make their own ice cream from scratch, and so much more as they explore some of the cool jobs they can do when they grow up.
August 7 – 10
From Neverland to Hogwarts and Oz to Wonderland, books have given us some of the most fantastic worlds to escape to. During Twisted Tales Week, our campers will jump feet first into fiction and play games, create crafts, and take part in activities inspired by our favourite childhood stories.
Myths & Monsters
August 13 – 17
What do swashbuckling pirates, little green men, Medusa, and Knights of the Round Table all have in common? WHAM Camp, of course! This week, campers will explore history’s most famous myths and then have a chance to come up with some fearsome monsters of their own.
Hooray for Hollywood
August 20 – 23
This week’s camp activities are inspired by Hollywood’s best animated movies. Campers will find Dory in a museum scavenger hunt, make Angry Birds catapults, adopt a Secret Life of Pets Rock, and even learn to draw like the professionals. Who knows? We may just discover Hollywood’s next big blockbuster!
Night at the Museum
August 24 – 25
Spend the entire night at WHAM! This hugely popular event, now in its 9th year, is a perfect way to end the summer holiday. Participants spend the evening under the stars with camp fire adventures, stories, and marshmallow treats, followed by popcorn and movies on WHAM’s indoor big screen.
Night at the Museum starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 25 with pickup at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26.
